Life complications have limited my photography outings for the last several years. Fortunately, I have a treasure trove of images to mine when I can’t get out. This image is from the Way Back Machine. Goldpaint Bisti Workshop June 2017. I love Bisti. Can’t get enough of it. I took this image after the 2017 workshop on a 6+ mile night hiking into the far reaches of Bisti. It is still one of my favorite nights of photography. I had noticed this grouping of hoodoos when hiking at twilight and marked the location. I returned later and composed this image in complete darkness. Couldn’t see my hand in front of my face. Yet, this image existed in front of me. It is one of the things that keeps me loving night photography. The image is there. You just need to reveal it to the world. The silence and the stars were amazing.

I was in Grand Marais MN and the Aurora is always so 'intrusive" on the Milky Way. This time the colors just could not be ignored. Between the yellow of the light pollution and the green of the glow to the pink of the aurora this was truly a rainbow!
