Brad Goldpaint is a professional photographer and educator whose work reflects a deep connection to wilderness and the preservation of dark skies. Through his images and teaching, he helps others reconnect with the night and its fading presence in the modern world.

What unfolded on May 10, 2024, over the Grand Teton Range was nothing like what I had ever imagined. Exploding waves of green, red, and purple swept across the entire sky, vivid and unmistakable, visible to the naked eye, and one of the most beautiful events I have ever witnessed.

After 15 years of chasing the Milky Way, comets, meteor showers, and moonlit landscapes, here’s what I’ve learned about night photography that most tutorials skip.
